OC Weekly Theater Awards

Last night was the 9th annual OC Weekly Theater Awards, held at the lovely Julianne Argyros Stage at South Coast Repertory. So what, you say? Well, friends and neighbors, I was there. It still seems strange to me, but it’s true. I was there to support the home team. Go, Hunger Artists!

It was a pretty good night for our little company. “Assassins” won for Best Ensemble. God! I wish I had auditioned for that! Argh!

Random Moments: I’m in the drink line (there was an open bar, what a bad idea!), when this attractive blonde walks over to me and gives me that “Acknowledge me” look. I was at a loss. Then she says, “You threw me over your shoulder and told me I needed a hystectomy?”  FLASH! “Holy Crap! Kristina Leach!”  Kristina & I were in Christopher Durang’s “The Nature & Purpose of the Universe” together about a million years ago at OCC. As I seem to recall, I also kicked her in the ass in that show. Ah, memories!

Kristina won for best new play for her “The Medea Project” at The Hunger Artists. Small world, eh?

I ran into Wendy Braun, who was in my first College Play, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” she was Becky Thatcher to my Injun Joe. The last time I saw her was at a very memorable Vampire game.

Jeremy Gable won for Best Actor. I think. I was in the Bathroom when it happened; I just caught him walking off stage. Pisser! He’s a Hell of a human being. I hate him so much!!!

There are more tid-bits, but my brain is dull today.

            Go Team!
